We are amidst the beautiful fall weather! These fall apple waffles that help you lose weight are delicious AND nutritious. Starch Solution inspired I have kept these waffles free from oils, animal products and have added in extra veggies to ramp up the nutrition and reduce the calorie count.

Breakfast “the most important meal of the day”

We’ve all heard it most of our lives “breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” We are essentially breaking our fast. Since for most of us nighttime is the longest period each day we go through without eating. It is important to start our day with a healthy breakfast that has plenty of protein to sustain us till lunch. Two of these apple weight loss waffles pack in almost 9 grams of protein. We also want a breakfast that will give us the energy we need to start our day! These waffles are perfect for that with almost 30 grams of healthy carbohydrates, our bodies preferred fuel source.

How to make Fall Apple Waffles that help you lose weight

When making waffles we need a waffle iron of course. My favorite one is this adorable waffle iron that is the perfect size for us and makes these adorable little heart shaped waffles.

My favorite thing about making waffles or pancakes is how you can just dump all the ingredients in, n any random order, and they always come our perfect.

The trick with these waffles actually helping us to lose weight? Adding in the yellow squash, without changing the flavors in any way, we are able to reduce the calorie density and up the nutrition!

Apple Weight Loss Waffles

Starch Solution inspired these waffles are oil free, and full of flavor

Equipment

  • waffle iron

Ingredients
  

  • 1 yellow squash grated
  • 2 gala apples grated
  • 2 cups flour of choice (all-purpose, einkorn, spelt, whole wheat, oat or buckwheat)
  • 3 tbsp Bobs Red Mill egg replacer or ground flax
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups plant based milk
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking soda

Instructions
 

  • mix egg replacer or ground flax with water. Set aside
  • Preheat waffle iron
  • Grate apples and yellow squash.
  • Add all ingredients to a large bowl and stir to combine.
  • Pour 1/3 cup waffle mix onto hot waffle iron. You might need to spray your waffle iron with a bit of oil. Cook until cooked through, approx. 2-4 minutes.
  • Top waffles with your choice of toppings and enjoy!
